The first crop top I ever bought was from Running Bare. I bloody loved that thing - wore it underneath my McDonald's uniform every day (yes I worked at Macca's Bondi Beach when it first opened in 1991). I kept getting told off because you could see the fluoro colour through my uniform shirt. I didn't care. It was orange and I loved it. 25 years on and I STILL love their crop tops - I have one in every colour. And do you know why???? They are a great fit, they wash well, they support in all the right places and they are affordable. And it is these key elements that have kept this iconic Aussie brand's heart pumping all these years. They know their customer. And their customer loves them.
IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR
In 1983, Brian and Corin Powell had a vision to provide Australian-made, quality women's sportswear that catered for every woman's body. Corin - an avid gym goer - struggled to find outfits that she felt amazing in whilst working out, so she knew that something had to be done. And Running Bare was born. This small, family operation took on a life of its own as the demand for Running Bare sky-rocketed across the country.
WHAT'S THEIR SECRET??
So what is the secret to their phenomenal success?? Come on girlfriends... let's be real. They know we be doin' that impossible twist in the changeroom to try and see what our butts look like and if we have any bulgy bits going on... I do it... We ALL do it.... and they know it. As someone who wears her fair share of activewear, for me, their secret is simple... CONSISTENCY. QUALITY. VARIETY. VALUE.
Diverse, fashion-forward range of prints and colours? Tick. Flattering fits and sizes ranging up to 22? Tick. Over 70% of their range manufactured in Australia keeping it home-grown?? Tick, Tick, TICK!!!
For me, Running Bare is a no-brainer. It's my "go-to" for every day training. No matter what I want to do there is a piece (or 3) to suit and the less I have to think about what I'm wearing the better!!! They really do sum it all up in their mission statement... 'made by women, for women'. Amen to that.
